Reverend Dr. Joseph R. Jordan, Instructor

Pastor Corinthian Baptist Church

 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY

"If a man wants to live a religious life that is worthy of the name, he must know God, he must enter into fellowship with Him.  This will necessarily involve two things:  (1) revelation on God's part, and (2) a capacity on man's part to know God."

Because of the tentative ear of this instructor to the needs and
concerns of students in the Metropolitan District
Congress; we proudly present this type of series of course
offerings.  Pastor Jordan will cover over the time span of
approximately the next three years (September - March
sessions only) such topics as:

  • The Doctrine of God   (Theology Proper or Paterology)  - Completed '07 - '08 session
  • The Doctrine of Man       (Christian Anthropology) - Completed '08 - '09 session
  • The Doctrine of Sin         (Hamartiology)
  • The Doctrine of Salvation   (Soteriology)
  • The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit  (Pneumatology)
  • Doctrine of Christ   (Christology)- Completed '09 - '10 session
  • Eschatology  (The study of the "End Times")
  • The Doctrine of the Church   (Ecclesiology)

So you ask:  "What is systematic theology?"   GLAD YOU DID!

The word "theology" comes from two Greek words meaning "God" and "word." Combined, the word "theology" means "study of God." Systematic refers to something be put into a system. Systematic theology is, therefore, the division of theology into systems that explain its various areas. For example, many books of the Bible give information about the angels. No one book gives all the information about the angels. Systematic theology takes all the information about angels from all the books of the Bible, and organizes it into a system - Angelology. That is what systematic theology is all about - organizing the teachings of the Bible into categorical systems.
